I may be on only a bit less than before, but that's because of my little bet. With the guy who's in love with me that I think of as a brother due to some of both of our "closet" issues. At any rate, these are the basic hiragana. Why are they on my desktop? Simply because the bet is whomever knows the most Japanese by...around September of 2009. More than a year from now. I figure this will help me subliminally with the language. Since I'm not having any trouble with katakana, and I'm good at recognizing kanji (which says nothing for writing them, of course ), I have hiragana here.
As for the icons, the "Anime and Manga" one is basically my junk pile. The coding in my shoutboard in case I forget to switch it to my journal before the subby expires, my Gmail password, the songs I need to get on iTunes once I get the cash, and a list of the anime and manga I like. (LONG list, dangit.)
Any questions? Willing Japanese tutors? (Haha...)
I'm off to play Kingdom Hearts and mull over the two hiragana I learned today. LS out.
I forgot aout your trip to Japan! Maybe you CAN help me! (Although my friends have trouble getting things through my head...) Basically, is anything...too weird about Japanese grammar? Like, am I going to make myself look like a total idiot for killing an often-used irregular verb or something?

XD No idea (I'm not THAT good) I haven't noticed anything too weird about the verbs... once you learn the few rules of which ones to apply them to- you're pretty much sorted. You'll notice patterns in plain form depending on the ending syllable. (ku/mu/ru) Here's a really basic format thing for 行く (to go), and 食べる (to eat) in a simple sentence structure... sorry for the crapness... tell me if I'm telling the completely wrong thing. XD I'd find my japanese books- but I've got assignments for college to do, sorry. X'[ E.G. (polite/plain from) Present/Future : 行きます - 行く Past : 行きました - 行った
Hey, you clearly haven't made an idiot out of yourself. XD Thanks; I will keep that in mind! I'm just proud of the fact that I can read plenty of the hiragana without that chart. How do you make the characters? Do you go to a romaji to hiragana coverter online?

no- i have the 'keyboard'... it's in the language bar (you know the little EN usually in the bottom right of your task bar?) if you go to language setting you can change the keyboard language. In there, there should be a little box to tick saying something about 'download asian languages pack' after installing them you should be able to choose the japanese keyboard as a usable one. (Gah- I'm confusing even myself... =_=; )
I have the Japanese language pack already. That's how I could see the characters in your grammar help comment. I just can't figure out how to make it type them. XD

okay! right- right click the language bar (i recommend it NOT to be in your task bar if you don't want hassle with it when using it to type japanese) - click settings - you should have a menu with the 'keyboards' you are using (probably 'English - United States' )- click 'Add' and choose 'japanese' input language. it should sort out the keyboard thing with something like 'IME input system' automatically. - click ok.
To USE it - left click on the language bar to get a drop down/up/whatever menu - choose japanese - okay, first the bat will get longer and a little keyboard icon will appear (saying japanese next to it again) - left click on it and change to 'Japanese input system' (it has a little red circle icon instead of the little keyboard) - you're ready to go! well now you can choose which alphabet you input. hira/kata and alpha-numeric (this one). ...
So... 今一わ。THAT IS SO WIN! It took me a minute to figure out, but once I stopped trying to read your comment from bottom to top, it worked. 有賀とございます! (Anything weird in that is probably the computer's fault...yeah, blame the PC. )

Ah yeah- you need to be careful with the automatic kanji... ありがとうごさいます -It doesn't have any kanji as far as I know... basically space bar will cycle you through the 'spelling' options. so unless you know your kanji it's probably best to just press 'enter' when you've typed a word. the main reason the space bar doesn't work like it does on western keyboard is because they write in blocks of text. Also the 'wa' that you hear when saying is written with the symbol for 'ha' in case you didn;t know. X]
